Drawing Drinks

i’m a very big fan of fancy cocktails, for a while i had a friend who was even in the Bartenders Guild and so i got to try all sorts of neat stuff …

while i dance around a bunch of projects, unfortunately still including job hunting, i’ve been using the idea of cocktails and fancy speakeasy style bars to brainstorm and sketch out some fun stuff.

Outbox Jukebox ...

one of the only consistent kinds of art i make is mixed CDs … especially if i was living somewhere far away from people it was a great way to send some love … and now that it’s swinging back into cool retro territory i’ve been making some again …

Line Work

i was drawing in one of the cafes in town and the guy who brought me my fancy toast noticed i was drawing and said i had “nice line work.“ and ever since then i’d been thinking about all the songs i could assemble into a playlist about lines …

California,

a woman i used to work with moved out to california to work on some organic farms and i finally got her address when she stopped in to my birthday party so i also made something to send to her

CD you later ...

i also made some mixed CDs …

but i’m gonna hold that post and try and use it to get me back over here in a couple days … if you don’t CD anything by monday night … yell at me …

The Year in Review

back to a classic moleskin for 2024 (though in sapphire blue this time), obviously i liked last years because it was a big part of my NZ trip … but in future spiral bound planners are not for me …

starting up this journal project has actually been super successful keeping me doing more art and staying at least a little focused on goals (please never inventory how many of these to-do lists actually got done!)

i’ve had meditation recommended to me in a variety of contexts … but for a lot of reasons it’s just not for me … however i have found that spending a concentrated amount of time and effort on little drawings like these kind of has the same effect.

i can gently ease into my week and distract my main focus so my background brain can figure out what needs to pop to the surface
