I never really grew out of making stuff out of cardboard and markers, cutting and pasting are my favorite things to do. (unless it’s the computer based control+C/V kind … )
When I was a teenager I started making mixed CDs for friends (still do, I sent out two just this past week!). In college I would occasionally bind my own little DIY notebooks. Then when I started traveling I would make care packages and postcards. I even made a little set of Zines when i was getting ready to leave SF for grad school. While most of my work is done for other people, I also started working on bigger and more complicated things. Collecting bits and pieces of discarded art supplies, building scraps, and other lucky finds, I've been creating assemblages out of various materials, and taking maps and posters and using them as bases for mixed media works. I even keep packing paper from shipments sometimes to make into something.
Honestly if i could hand draw and collage this website it’d probably be way better than this … i’m in my own way a pretty analog boy …
