To celebrate my 40th birthday i’m going back to New Zealand!
in addition to the magic of a summer birthday, i’m going to revisit the most magical place i’ve ever been to …
a couple of weeks ago i got flights, sent out a few emails and opened up some tabs with travel tips and currency info …
i’ve been thinking about doing this since just about the second i left Autumn Farm down in Golden Bay New Zealand … for a while it was just an abstract “i’ll go back when i’m 40“ idea to dream about … but then a few years ago after i moved back to Beacon i realized that it was fast approaching.
and last year when i turned 39 i realized it was time to actually plan it … first thing was renewing my passport! took me three tried but got that done before the leaves started coming out … then it was mostly hypothetical and trying to keep a balanced budget till midsummer. thats when the flight trackers got set up … and one day after work the price dropped into the zone where it actually made sense and … well here we are … there is actually a lot still to plan … but the basics are set up …
in theory i’m gonna keep this place updated with how that planning is going and how you can help if you want! though i’m not great at websites (you can tell by the rest of the place … ) i’ve got ones set up for the rest of the week so if i can get that momentum rolling i … might … be able to “live-blog“ this adventure …
